This build we did for the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action, located next door to the Bangor Naval Base. The center was first built in 1982 and burned down when soldiers snuck in one night. The monks who were brave enough to stay were moved to Bainbridge and, until recently, lived in a very small, primitive cabin. Over time, I’ve repaired their wood stove (used for cooking and heat), fixed fences, and helped with whatever needed doing. Some jobs aren’t about the invoice. When it’s all done, my son and I will keep showing up to landscape and lend a hand, because places like this deserve that.
